There’s something for everyone at Hart Square – from attending an event to learning an endangered craft to joining a group tour. \nPresenter Lorissa Vines is a Catawba County native who has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years. Lorissa joined the team at Hart Square Foundation as the organization’s first Development Director in June 2022. She continues to share and preserve history through community outreach and philanthropy. \nStep back in time to the 1800s with an introduction to Hart Square Village\, the nation’s largest collection of historic log structures. Located in Vale\, NC\, the open-air museum consists of 103 structures built between 1760 and 1893. In 2010\, for example\, over 4\,500 people attended this event. This year there will be 50+ Vendors Many hosting their own booths and offering expert advice. There will also be over 20 free demos\, and crafts and games for your little ones. there will be plenty to see and learn. \nSoap carving will be returning again this year. Featuring: Byron Bean All Star Big Band with Russ Wilson. \n  \nAbout: \nJAZZ ON TAP comes to Taste Full Beans (Downtown Hickory since 2001) beginning on Sunday Feb 2023. Jazz on Tap is the longest running jazz night in Western North Carolina for 21 years.. From 2000-present Jazz lovers continue to hear quality jazz of all flavors with rotating musicians each month 6-8pm. Jazz on Tap may look a little different than the 2000-2020 with a change in location (and by scaling back to once a month)\, however still caters to the jazz enthusiast who enjoys world class jazz from musicians from around the state. Cost is $12 for non HJS member. Featured musicians can be found on the calendar page. Jazz on Tap is hosted by the new Hickory Jazz Society\, the area’s new “stewards of live jazz”. Taste Full Beans offers table service\, a special Jazz on Tap food menu as well as beer\, wine by the glass or bottle (especially selected for the event)\, coffee\, specialty teas\, smoothies and more.
