Blue
Blue is a historical drama set in 1944 during World War II and inspired by the real-life polio epidemic that affected Hickory, North Carolina.
Written by Joyce Moyer Hostetter, the story follows young Ann Fay Honeycutt as she experiences the challenges of family, friendship, and community during a time of uncertainty. Set against the backdrop of segregation in the American South, the production explores fear, prejudice, courage, compassion, and hope while highlighting the community’s response to adversity.
Produced by Arts Culture Catawba and ALFA, Blue offers a theatrical look at an important chapter of Hickory’s local history.
