Paper Making Class

May 9 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
$50

Learn the ancient tradition of paper-making! Millenia old in China and Europe, the first American paper mill was established in 1690 in Pennsylvania. Learn how this eco-friendly craft can help us “upcycle” used paper products, and even fabric, to create one-of-a-kind art pieces.

In this workshop, you’ll participate in the process of making paper pulp and straining it through a deckle to create unique hand-made paper. You’ll come home with your own sheets that can be used for card-making, crafts, and correspondence! The instructor will also demonstrate “pulp painting,” a way you can customize your paper by adding color and pattern before a sheet is complete. Dried flowers, metallic threads, and other add-ins will be on hand… feel free to bring your own contributions for a truly special piece.

Apron or smock recommended.
