Event:
Step back in time and savor the art of traditional hearthside cooking in this hands-on class at Hart Square. Participants will learn to bake rustic breads in an open hearth and create simple farmhouse cheese using historic methods. Guided by skilled instructors, you’ll explore time-honored techniques from kneading dough by hand to curdling and pressing fresh cheeses. Leave with a deeper appreciation for the self-sufficiency and culinary creativity of early North Carolinians. Whether you’re a home cook, history enthusiast, or curious learner, this class offers a flavorful journey into the past and a taste of heritage you won’t forget. Some food will be provided during the class. You may bring a packed lunch if you wish.
