Chair Caning Class – Chairs

Step back in time and learn the early Appalachian skill of “bottoming chairs.” This 4-hour class will show you step by step how to weave a herringbone pattern with reed to form your chair seat. Materials will be provided. A chair frame will be provided, or you may bring a standard chair frame of your own. If you bring your own, the chair should measure around 14.5 inches front to back and 17.5 inches at the widest part of the seat.
It is recommended that you take the Caroline stool caning class first, but it is not required.
